"Sorry to be boring, but what mouthpiece do you use on tenor?...."
Oh well, it's got to be done, I DID promise, so here's a list of what I use!
SAXES
TENOR / ALTO - Until recently I favoured the old Selmer Mk.6, circa late 50s/early 60s, but after the success with the Yanagisawa soprano I'm trying their bronze tenor and altos. It's going well so far but there's a place in the clinic booked for me!SOPRANO - I'm currently playing a Yanagisawa curved bronze baby, the SC992 unlaquered.
I'm favourably impressed with the sound, response and overall feel. I also have an old curved Conn and an old curved Buescher.
BARITONE - Old Conns again, I have a couple of Crossbars that I love. I tried the Yanagisawa bronze bari out in Japan; it's really brilliant and would be my choice if I was buying a new horn.
SOPRANINO - A relatively new addition, I have a 70s MK6, but I've never played any other make so can't say it's the best, etc.
MOUTHPIECES
Tenor-Brass - I am currently using an ebonite piece by Ron Coelho, an American maker. Its called an RPC. Find Rons details on the links page. Trying Rico plasticover 2.5s on this
Alto - Freddie Gregory ebonite Mk4 "super deluxe" 7**
Soprano - Freddie Gregory ebonite "super deluxe" 6*
Baritone - ebonite,markings have disapeared
Sopranino - selmer,no markings
