Snake was incredible working with a group of young people from Teesdale and Swaledale on Sunday. The dozen or so young musicians entertained the audience prior to Snake and the Band's wonderful gig. The whole evening was a delight. Well done Snake. Photo taken at the start of the workshop: http://picasaweb.google.com/RadioTeesdale/RadioTeesdale20092010#5482563134418331282

John - 6-Oct-2009 13:55:06: Title St Bedes Concert
Message Snake a brilliant concert last night, it was tremendous the way you allowed the students in the last peices to have a major lead in the playing, allowing them to adlib. Having started to learn the sax at the ripe old age of 49, 3 years ago, and not able to read music it's been a hard journey, but we are getting there. Last nights concert was a real inspiration, and reading your web site notes has added to that, I hope my teacher, who is also an inspiration will see the changes. Bought the CD Live, going onto Ipod, looking forward to next concert. Brilliant concert
marktuvey - 5-Oct-2009 21:56:35: SHIP THEATRE - 4/10/09
Snake, just wanted to say thanks for another blinding evening at the Ship last night, I managed to introduce yet another couple of friends to you're music and hopefully they will continue to support you, as we have done. Just listening to the "live" album we bought last night (forgot to get it signed while we were talking) excellent listen. Wonder if you will take me up on the suggestion of including both Paul and Mark at a future session? Could be a fantastic mix. Can't guarantee we'll make it to Pizza Express on 23/12 but will certainly try. Pass on my thanks and best wishes to the rest of the band, and thanks again for another great evening! Wishing you continued success on your travels. Mark T
Richard - 28-Sep-2009 13:53:10: Hull Truck
A superb first appearance at the new Hull Truck Theatre last night. It was all great, but 'In a Whisper' was especially evocative. Not sure where Birchy was this time, but Mark was really on form and gave the band a different dimension. Thanks for another memorable evening. (And Ann was delighted with her new, autographed CD, Snake).

Message What about a Zoot & the Roots or Suspicions re-union at the re-opened Band on the Wall???? It would be great to be back there. Also what about us poor northerners now stranded in the South? Please come & see us.
Toms Dad - 6-Sep-2009 15:59:14: Fox and Hounds 5th Sept
Another superb night, my first with The Suspicions but Suzie & Dorothy were brilliant and a pleasant change of genre! Good to see Birchy back from his US trip, would've liked to have seen/heard a bit more of him last night; his keyboard skills are amazing and that Hammond, mmmm... I guess I'll have to make do with the CD's till next year now - just about to pop on 'Live' and turn up the volume a bit. Good luck for the tour Cya in 2010.

Message I first saw you, Snake, at a wedding, I was one of the registrars, and you came over and introduced yourself, then I heard you play and it was just wonderful! The stance against the wall was fantastic too! I next saw you in Barnsley at a tiny venue which was so intimate and the music was fantastic again. I'm now hooked and as I've always loved the saxaphone, I am hoping to take lessons and realise my dream of playing one at last (hope its true that you're never too old to learn!). So thanks Snake and hope to hear you live again very soon xxx
Helen - 29-Aug-2009 11:36:28: A big thank you

See you again and Thanks a million for a great night out.
WebMaster - 1-Jun-2009 18:57:20: Heather Small gig
Wow, what a stunning gig at Cheltenham. Heather rocked and Snake rolled to a sellout at the Cheltenham Town Hall on Saturday. Given the staid nature of the town and its residents, I was amazed to see the crowd on their feet and some serious booty shaking goin' on. Immaculate performance from Snake on Saxes and flutes as ever, and as 'er indoors said afterwards "She can sing, and he can play the saxophone!". This constitutes high praise indeed from she who must be obeyed!
biggirlsbluesband - 11-May-2009 12:25:20: 22 May
Snake - Julie and I thought the night at Pizza Xpress was the serious funky business. Julie cheekily asked if you might consider standing in for our saxman at a gig at Old Explorer on 22 May but I see you are in Bradford - so maybe next time. I note that Maceo is in town on that date too - but obviously he would be second choice !! Keep it fffffunky.
bluerondo - 27-Mar-2009 22:55:42: Title Any chance
Message ... of ever seeing a Zoot and the Roots reunion ? We spent some great evenings watching this lot featuring Snake on sax . Remember one wild evening at The Band on the Wall in Manchester when for some reason Snake was late . The band played on , Snake arrived breathless (nearly ) and then they ripped the place apart . I would pay good money to see this reunion .
tom-s - 16-Mar-2009 14:05:19: Hi Chris
Congrats mate. Just saw your interview (from 2007?) that's posted on YouTube and nice to hear you again after so many years. You mentioned about finding the 'sax spot' in a room and it reminded me of how you used to walk about the flat in Marmaduke St. when we were rehearsing! And as for doing 40,000 Headmen at the Gregson's Well! what a gig. Keep blowin' nicely. All the best, Tom (and Nick).

Hi Lento. Obviously the sooner the better. As a guide, we are currently booking autumn and winter 2009 with a few earlier dates in between. The best policy is just to ask as soon as you have the go ahead. we can always pencil dates in and come back to you if need be. Hope that helps? Email theteam@snakedavis.com for any other info.

To all those who ask about sax lessons etc... We do have some provisional plans to run a series of workshops next year across the country. However, you girls and guys out there who are interested can really help us. Let us know where you are based so that we can try and link everything together. We'd also like to keep the cost of attending workshops down so that they are accessible to all, to help us do this, it'd be great if you could tell us of suitable Village Halls, Community Centres, Music rooms, etc that you think might be good places to hold them. Please email Sally at theteam@snakedavis.com so that we can keep you informed of when and where and we'll do our best. Thanks.

There was a weekender at Blackpool Tower Ballroom last week in place of the annual bash at Cala Gran. Brilliant venue, brilliant music BUT one thing missing. NO SNAKE DAVIS. What am I going to do if I don't get my annual dose of the marvellous Snakeman. Looking out for gigs nearby. Might even have to try and book him myself.

Pizza X - Maidstone - I saw Snake & awesome band at Pizza Express Maidstone Kent on Friday, I had to blag my way in as it was sold out! I told the manager I was a friend of Snake's (sorry mate!) I was carrying a shaped tenor sax case which I think may have helped! Snake was truly awesome, the band were superb & world class in all divisions, the sound man was also excellent. I have recently purchased a 1968 Selmer MkV1 tenor, I have not played for over 10 years but dearly want to get with it again! Snake, you have given me the push I needed; God bless ya!

Hi all of you guys looking for more news on Snake at Aroma in Barnsley. There are some more dates set up at Aroma for later this year I spoke with kristina and there are some new variations and artists to arrive there with Snake fronting it all. Although she would not divulge too much I know that they are looking at least 1 date per month for the first 6 months of the year but as usual you must book very early as they sell out like lightning but hardly surprising with the fantastic evening you have here.

Snake played out of his skin last night at the M People gig in Glasgow. The venue was packed with thousands who knew every word of every song that Heather sang. Snake was at his powerful best and look so comfortable on the big stage, and the crowd loved him!! Great to see Birchy up there with him as well, doing all the hard work on the keyboards. Of course the night ended with Snake's fantastic solo on "Moving on up", and then the deafening applause from the audience. Excellente!

AA do release here in the UK as well. Any of the top internet site have American English. I'm also very pleased to see that Snake is putting out an album, "Adder Lessons", featuring some of his earlier work off "Wonderful World", "Second Skin" and "Music Man". I am lucky enough to have all three and they are brilliant, so I think "Adder Lessons" is a must! BTW, soulboy, "Second Skin" is one of the albums that Frank features on, when he was a member of Snake and The Charmers.

Snakette - 22-Sep-2005 21:15:01: All things Snake!
Soulboy, Acoustic Alchemy start their next UK tour May, 2006 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Snake will again take the stage with them. Snake currently features on AA's new CD "American English" and in particular "The Crossing" and "The Detroit Shuffle" are getting a lot of airplay in the US and Snake's prowess with the sax is coming in for a lot of well deserved plaudits. I have seen Jim and Snake play together quite a few times and they are a must, a very unique duo with lots of soul! I am at the moment waiting with baited breath for the M People gigs to start, if you haven't see Snake on the big stage, YOU MUST............he belongs there!!
soulboy - 21-Sep-2005 20:55:50: Thanks Snakette
Thanks for that the guy was quite amazing to say the least. Have you got any dates for Acoustic Alchemy when snake is playing with them or will we have to wait for next tour. Also just booked to see the band again at Aroma in Dec tried to get in for Jim Diamond but already fully booked so again will try to catch up with them later have you seen them play together.
Snakette - 20-Sep-2005 22:26:46: Aroma Alchemy
Soulboy, the bass guitarist playing that night was Frank Felix. Frank is a long time sparring partner of Snake's. Frank use to be in a couple of Snake's bands but as Snake said now tours in the UK and the US with Acoustic Alchemy. Earlier on this year Snake was the guest saxophonist at the UK dates for Acoustic......as ever FANTASTIC.

Snakette - 19-May-2005 19:09:22: Zoot and the Roots
Vasco, (I don't want to bore you) Miles was talking about the band Zoot and the Roots, from way back about 20 years ago (before my time)which he and Snake were both members of. Take a look at www.zyworld.com/Blueflies/Zootandtheroots.htm The first photo has Snake 1st left on the back row and Miles at the very front. Snake has hardly aged at all!! He was actually asked if he would do a Zoot and the Roots reunion gig at Altrincham on Friday. This band has gone down in history up here in the North, enough:-)
HannahB - 14-Mar-2005 23:29:24: Scarborough EASY Band gig
Thanks so much to Snake and the band for an unforgettable night last night. I'm from Scarbrough but at Uni in Lincoln - as soon as my parents told me Snake was playing I decided to go home for the weekend, nevermind the fact I should have been at Uni this morning! I'm glad I did go home, because not only did I have a great night, blissed out by the music, I could tell just how much the kids were loving it as well. Of the 8 or so years of celebrity concerts I've played with the EASY bands, last night's was definitely one of the very best, and I only wish I was still a member so i could have been up ther with them. Thanks again to the whole crew, I'm glad to hear you like playing in Scarbrough and hope you can come back soon!! Hannah xox
